Restore

Can a PC be restored to a different model?

That is what Universal Restore is for: one PC's image put back on a different model, with drivers suited to the new hardware. This feature is in development and coming soon, as is whole-PC restore from a recovery USB key.

Today, you restore files and folders from the console, in the version you choose.

Will Windows need to be reactivated after a restore to a different PC?

It may. Windows ties its activation to the hardware: on a different machine it may ask to be activated again, using your company's licences. Revive does not bypass Windows activation.

What about PCs joined to Microsoft Entra ID?

After a restore to a different PC, the device has to be joined to Entra ID again. It is a known limit, and we prefer to say so.

Rebuild mode, planned on the roadmap, will cover this case: a new PC prepared by Intune Autopilot, then the user's data and profile restored automatically.

What do we do when a PC is stolen?

Revoke it in one click from the console: it is no longer recognised. Its backups remain available to get the user back to work. With Universal Restore, users will get their PC back on new hardware, without reinstalling everything.

Roaming laptops

What happens when a laptop is offline?

Backups start on their own, even offline, and the ones that were missed are caught up as soon as the laptop is back online.

Does the user need to do anything?

No. Away from the office, the agent opens an encrypted tunnel to your NAS on its own, only for the duration of the backup. No action from the user, nothing extra to install.

Does Revive conflict with our VPN?

No. Revive's tunnel is built into the agent and does not interfere with the company VPN. If a network blocks the tunnel, an automatic fallback takes over.

Data and privacy

Where are our backups stored?

On your QNAP NAS, on your premises. No mandatory cloud subscription, no data held by a third party. You choose the storage volume and how long backups are kept.

Is our data encrypted?

Yes, end to end: data is encrypted on the PC before it is sent, and stays encrypted on the NAS.

Is Revive NIS2 compliant?

Revive helps with NIS2 compliance: you know which PCs are protected and you can restore them. NIS2 and ISO 27001 compliance reports, with protection rate and restore evidence, are planned on the roadmap.

Deployment and demo

What hardware do we need?

PCs running Windows 10 or 11 and a QNAP NAS. The minimum NAS requirements will be published soon; tell us your model when you book a demo.

How do we deploy the agent to the PCs?

Through MSI, Intune, GPO or your device management tool, with an enrolment token. No password to type on the PC.

How much does Revive cost?

Pricing has not been announced yet. Book a demo or write to us at contact@vigilancex.io.

How can we see Revive in action?

Fill in the demo request form: number of PCs, NAS, context. We will get back to you shortly to arrange a time.
